Women’s Tennis Falls in Rain-Shortened Match at Roger Williams, 5-0
BRISTOL, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision at Roger Williams Wednesday afternoon in a rain-shortened contest.
The Lions slide to 2-4 overall and 0-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Hawks improve to 4-1 on the year and 2-0 in league action with the win.
Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) suffered an 8-1 setback at the top doubles position to Julia Akerman and Kathryn Hughes.
Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) and Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) absorbed an 8-0 loss to Allie Grinavic and Gabrielle Riley at the No. 2 spot.
Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Joanna Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.) fell to Jessica Magliato and Caroline McCarthy 8-0 at the third slot.
Jimenez dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at the No. 3 singles position to Akerman and Sutton endured a 6-0, 6-1 setback the fourth spot to Ali Stankiewicz.
Duval, Steelman, Lariviere and Mohnkern all trailed by a set when the match was halted due to precipitation.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns home to host Springfield September 15.
