Women’s Tennis Bests Mount Ida, 8-1, Monday
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team logged an 8-1 non-conference victory over Mount Ida Monday afternoon.
The Lions improve to 2-3 overall while the Mustangs fall to 0-3 on the year.
Eastern Nazarene held a 3-0 lead at the start of singles action after a pair of doubles victories and a win by default at the No. 3 position.
Adele Duval (Redding, Calif.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) cruised to an 8-1 win at the top doubles spot over Jenna Jarman and Kaitlyn Jesse.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Veronica Jimenez (Lynn, Mass.) collected an 8-2 victory at the No. 2 slot over Yuliana Chairez and Amanda Garner.
The home team notched four wins in singles play and a victory by default at the No. 6 position to clinch the match.
Cressman topped Jesse 6-1, 6-0 in her first action at the No. 2 singles spot. Jimenez moved up to the third singles slot and earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Chairez.
Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) blanked Danielle Barnabe 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth singles match. Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) downed Garner at the No. 5 slot 6-2, 6-1.
Steelman suffered a 6-4, 6-4 setback at the top singles position against Jarman.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene resumes conference play with a road match at Roger Williams September 14.
