Women’s Tennis Falls to Gordon 9-0 in Fall Season Finale
BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team closed out the 2015 regular season with a 9-0 loss to Gordon at the Bass River Tennis Club.
The Lions slide to 4-8 on the year and 2-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Fighting Scots improve to 10-2 overall and 7-1 in league action.
Adele Duval (Dallas, Texas) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) suffered an 8-4 setback at the No. 1 doubles match to Justine Hanson and Katherine Jeffreys.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) fell to Lily Drescher and Tawnie Yeaw 8-0 at the second spot.
Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) dropped an 8-0 decision to Madeline Berry and Kaelyn Hall at the No. 3 slot.
Duval lost in straight sets at the top singles position to Abigail Denney 6-1, 6-0. Steelman absorbed a 6-1, 6-0 loss at the No. 2 singles match to Yeaw.
Burrello fell to Abby Caron 6-1, 6-2 at the third spot while Cressman endured a 6-0, 6-2 setback to Drescher at the fourth slot.
Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) and Jordan Price (Snow Hill, Md.) each suffered straight-set losses at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, respectively.
Eastern Nazarene will return to action March 7 when it kicks off a spring break training trip in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
