Women’s Tennis Charges Past Curry, 7-2
WEYMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team clawed past Curry 7-2 Friday evening at the Weymouth Club.
The Lions improve to 4-7 on the year and 2-5 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Colonels sink to 3-9 overall and 0-7 in league action.
Eastern Nazarene picked up a pair of doubles wins to grasp a 2-1 edge.
Adele Duval (Dallas, Texas) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) cruised to an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 position over Kayla Prete and Katelyn Harrington.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) battled past Hannah Erickson and Alexandra Moschetto at the second slot 9-8.
Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) suffered a narrow 9-7 loss at the third spot to Gabriella Tedeschi and Rosaria Robidoux.
The Lions notched five wins in singles play to secure their second conference victory of the season.
Duval downed Prete at the top position 6-2, 6-0 to earn her team-leading fifth singles win of the fall.
Steelman prevailed 6-2, 6-2 over Erickson in the No. 2 singles match. Burrello collected a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Harrington at the third slot.
Cressman posted a 6-3, 6-4 win at the fourth position over Moschetto. Tubbs topped Tedeschi at the No. 5 slot 6-3, 6-1.
Sutton dropped a 6-1, 6-2 decision to Robidoux at the No. 6 spot.
