Women's Tennis Suffers 6-3 Setback to UMass-Boston
QUINCY, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team absorbed a 6-3 loss to UMass-Boston in non-league play. The match concluded Friday afternoon after darkness halted action Thursday.
The Lions slip to 3-4 on the year while the Beacons improve to 2-2 overall.
Eastern Nazarene captured one victory in doubles play before storming back to grab two singles wins to level the match at 3-3.
The hosts' lone doubles victory came at the No. 1 position as Adele Duval (Dallas, Texas) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) prevailed 8-3.
Duval posted a 6-0, 6-4 win at the top singles spot and Steelman notched a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 slot.
UMass-Boston collected a singles victory just before the match was halted to regain the lead, 4-3.
When the match was suspended, Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) was in the midst of a battle at the No. 4 position. Cressman claimed the first set 6-4 before dropping the second 6-2. On Friday, Cressman suffered a 6-1 loss in the deciding third set.
At the No. 6 singles match, Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) fell in the opening set 6-3 on Thursday and 6-1 in the second on Friday.
