Women’s Tennis Falls to Regis, 8-1
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 non-conference decision to Regis Thursday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions slip to 1-1 on the year while the Pride improves to 1-0 overall.
The visitors captured a 3-0 lead after earning three doubles victories and went on to win five of the six singles matches to secure their first victory of the year.
Adele Duval (Dallas, Texas) picked up Eastern Nazarene's lone win on the day as she notched her second consecutive victory at the No. 1 singles position. The rookie defeated Lord in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3 to improve to 2-0 on the fall.
At the No. 3 doubles spot, Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) battled back from a 7-4 deficit to level the match at 7-7 before forcing a tiebreaker. The tandem ultimately fell in the tiebreaker to Regis' Amy DiPace and Sara Kanarkiewicz.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Duval (Dallas, Texas) suffered an 8-5 setback at the top doubles position to Jessie Lord and Erica Murphy. Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) absorbed an 8-2 loss at the second slot to Jewel Medeiros and Emily Rice.
Up next, the Lions open league play September 5 as they hosts Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Salve Regina.
