Women’s Tennis Downed at League-Leading Endicott Saturday, 8-1
BEVERLY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at league-leading Endicott Saturday afternoon.
The Lions fall to 2-9 on the season and 1-6 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Gulls improve to 8-2 overall and remain atop the league standings with an unblemished 6-0 conference record.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) suffered an 8-2 setback at the top doubles spot to Amy Heacox and Dayna Reilly.
Jordan Cressman (Bomanstown, Pa.) and Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) fell to Brittany Potter and Suzie Newman 8-0 at the No. 2 position.
Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) and Bethany Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.) absorbed an 8-0 loss at the third slot to Katie Javaruski and Hannah Kravetz.
Eastern Nazarene's lone win on the day came at the No. 2 singles position. Burrello held a 4-3 lead in the first set when her opponent was forced to retire due to an injury.
Steelman fell at the No. 1 singles spot to Natalie Egbert 6-0, 6-2. Cressman lost to Mackenzie Rhodes at the third position 6-1, 6-0 while Tubbs endured a 6-0, 6-1 loss in the No. 4 singles match.
Lariviere and Mohnkern each fell in straight sets at the fifth and sixth singles spots, respectively.
