Women’s Tennis Upended at Nichols, 9-0
DUDLEY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team dropped a Commonwealth Coast Conference match at Nichols Wednesday 9-0.
The Lions fall to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in league contests. The Bison improve to 5-2 on the year and 2-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) absorbed an 8-0 loss at the No. 1 doubles position to Nichols' Alanna Judd and Lauren Candia. Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) suffered an 8-0 setback at the second doubles spot to Ashley Dallaire and Daniela Saldarriaga.
Bethany Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.) and Jordan Price (Snow Hill, Md.) were edged 8-6 at the No. 3 doubles match by Kasie Chapin and Megan Mason.
At the top singles slot, Steelman endured a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Judd. Burrello fell to Lindsay Benoit at the No. 2 singles spot 6-0, 6-0.
Cressman dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision at the third singles position to Candia while Tubbs absorbed a 6-0, 6-0 loss at the No. 4 spot to Emma Carey.
Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) suffered a straight-sets loss at the fifth singles match to Katie Malloy. Price fell to Michelle Keklik 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 6 position.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will visit UMass-Boston September 18 in the final non-conference match of the regular season.
