Women’s Tennis Falters at Regis, Dealt 8-1 Loss
WESTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene women's tennis team absorbed an 8-1 setback on the road at Regis Thursday.
The Lions slip to 1-1 on the year while the Pride rises to 1-0 overall with the victory.
The hosts claimed a 3-0 advantage after sweeping the three doubles matches.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Lindsey Steelman (Darlington, Md.) dropped an 8-4 decision at the No. 1 position to Jessie Lord and Jewel Medeiros.
Jordan Cressman (Bowmanstown, Pa.) and Alecia Tubbs (Rochester, N.Y.) suffered an 8-2 loss to Emily Rice and Emily Morgenbesser at the second spot.
Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Julie Sutton (Middletown, Conn.) fell to Kendall Kolb and Erica Murphy at the No. 3 doubles slot, 8-1.
Regis secured its first win of the fall with five victories in singles action.
Steelman picked up Eastern Nazarene's lone win on the day at the No. 1 singles spot. The rookie topped Morgenbesser 6-2, 6-4.
Burrello was edged by Rice 6-2, 7-6 at the second position while Cressman endured a 6-1, 6-1 loss at the third slot. Bethany Mohnkern (Petersburg, Pa.), Lariviere and Tubbs all fell in straight sets at the fourth, fifth and sixth singles matches, respectively.
