Women’s Tennis Blanked by League-Leading Endicott, 9-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to Endicott Tuesday afternoon at the ENC Tennis Courts.
The Lions fall to 1-8 on the year and 0-6 in the conference with the loss. The Gulls remain atop the Commonwealth Coast Conference standings with a 7-2 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league play.
The visitors picked up a trio of 8-1 decisions in doubles action.
Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) fell to Amy Heacox and Mackenzie Rhodes at the top spot. At the No. 2 slot, Juju Atwater (Weymouth, Mass.) and Sarah Layton (Bonney Lake, Wash.) absorbed an 8-1 loss to Suzie Newman and Brittany Potter. Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) and Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) suffered an 8-1 setback at the third position.
Endicott posted six singles wins to remain unbeaten in the conference.
McLaughlin dropped a 6-0, 6-1 decision at the No. 1 spot while Burrello fell 6-0, 6-1 at the second position. Layton endured a 6-0, 6-0 loss at the third slot to Newman.
Atwater fell to Sarah Hill 6-3, 6-1 at the fourth singles spot. Waddle and Lariviere also lost in straight-sets at the fifth and sixth positions, respectively.
