Women's Tennis Suffers 8-1 Setback at Curry

MILTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision at Curry in the first conference match of the season. The Lions fall to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the loss. The Colonels improve to 1-1 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
The home side swept the three doubles matches to garner a 3-0 lead.
Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Sarah Layton (Bonney Lake, Wash.) endured an 8-4 loss at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) and Juju Atwater (Weymouth, Mass.) fell 8-5 at the second position to Curry's Lauren Chuha and Kimberly Love. Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) and Hannah Lariviere (Biddeford, Maine) dropped an 8-0 decision at the No. 3 slot.
Atwater claimed the Lions' lone victory on the day, prevailing in back-to-back tiebreakers at the No. 4 singles position.
McLaughlin fell 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles spot and Layton also absorbed a 6-0, 6-0 loss at the No. 2 slot. Burrello suffered a 6-1, 6-0 loss at the No. 3 position to Molly Louis.
Eastern Nazarene will look to capture its first league win of the season as it travels to take on Gordon September 10.
