Women’s Tennis Drops Season Finale at Nichols, 9-0

DUDLEY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback at Nichols Saturday afternoon in the final regular season contest. The Lions end the year with a 2-10 overall record and an 0-8 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Bison head into the postseason sporting an 11-4 record on the year and an 8-0 mark in league action.
Nichols picked up three doubles wins to lead 3-0 at the start of singles play.
Seniors Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, N.H.) and Elise Sleeper (Sanford, Maine) fell 8-2 at the top slot to Alex Cifone and Lindsay Benoit. Monica Gonzalez (Somerville, Mass.) and Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) absorbed an 8-3 loss at the No. 3 position.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Lemire dropped a 6-2, 6-3 decision to Anna Dyakiv.
The Bison captured 6-0, 6-0 sweeps at the other five singles positions to claim the top seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament.
