Women’s Tennis Falls 8-1 at Regis

WESTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's tennis team absorbed an 8-1 loss at Regis Monday afternoon in a non-conference match. The Lions dip to 2-6 overall while the Pride improves to 5-0 on the year.
Tressa Burrello (Herkimer, N.Y.) claimed the lone point for the visitors as she prevailed at the No. 5 singles slot. The rookie won set one 6-3 before dropping the second 6-7. Burrello closed out the match with a 10-6 decision in the third-set super-tiebreaker to defeat Caroline Roche.
Regis swept the three doubles matches to own a 3-0 lead at the start of singles play.
Elise Sleeper (Sanford, Maine) and Sharon Lemire (Lyndeboro, N.H.) endured an 8-5 setback at the top slot. Monica Gonzalez (Somerville, Mass.) and Burrello fell 8-3 at the third position while Kathryn McLaughlin (Huntington Station, N.Y.) and Kelsey Waddle (Olathe, Kan.) dropped an 8-1 result at the second spot.
Up next, the Lions resume play in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a road match at league-leading Endicott September 29.
