Bio

In his eighth season at the helm of Eastern Nazarene’s women's soccer program, head coach Steve Hamilton has completely transformed the team.

The Lions posted their third-straight trip to the CCC Tournament in 2013 and finished the season with an 11-8-1 overall record, the most wins in program history. Eastern Nazarene won eight of its first nine matches to start the 2013 campaign. Hamilton also guided the Lions to their first-ever berth to the ECAC Tournament in 2013.

Under his tutelage, Jules Speno and Amelia Gonzales each earned All-CCC second team honors while Katherine Lawrence received honorable mention.

As well as attaining success on the pitch, Hamilton's teams have also excelled in the classroom. The Lions have garnered the NSCAA Team Academic Award in each of the past two academic years. Six women's soccer players also claimed spots on the CCC All-Academic team in 2012-13.

In 2012, Hamilton's squad claimed the No. 4 seed in the CCC Tournament and hosted the program's first-ever home playoff game. The Lions defeated the University of New England 1-0 in the game to advance to the CCC Semifinals for the first time.

Eastern Nazarene concluded the 2012 season with a 9-8-3 overall record.

Hamilton's team boasted four All-CCC honorees in 2012 as Jules Speno earned first team accolades while Tina Corey claimed second team honors and Amelia Gonzales and Morgan Goodney picked up honorable mention nods.

In 2011, Hamilton led ENC to the best winning percentages in school history, both in conference and overall play. Under his guidance, Kara Webber ‘12 was named as an All-Commonwealth Coast Conference Second Team selection.

In 2009, his squad broke the school record for total wins, conference wins, as well as numerous individual records. The team has also been successful off of the field, holding a cumulative GPA of 3.31 and involving themselves in local community service projects.

“Our players understand that they belong to something bigger than just a team," Hamilton said. "We’re a family, dedicated towards pursuing greatness in all things; an understanding that affects every decision we make on and off the pitch. We will never stop in that endeavor."

Prior to his arrival at Eastern Nazarene College, Hamilton had a two-year stint as the head coach at Genesee Community College (Batavia, N.Y.). Posting an overall record of 20-16, he is credited with recruiting 23 new student-athletes in a single recruiting season. The team was the WNYAC Champions in 2006 and recorded the highest national ranking in school history, being the first GCC Women’s Soccer team to ever reach the Regional Final Four. An impressive feat in one recruiting season, Hamilton turned the soccer program into a regional powerhouse.

A 1999 graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College, Hamilton participated in both soccer and track and field, and went on to play soccer for Fraser Valley Action FC in Vancouver, B.C. Hamilton earned his Masters of Science in Exercise Science, specializing in Performance Enhancement and Injury Prevention from California University of Pennsylvania. He holds the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) National, Advanced National, and Premier Diplomas.

Hamilton and his wife, Gwen, have been blessed with two beautiful children, Jonan and Ava. Gwen teaches at Campus Kinder Haus, where both Jonan and Ava attend. They reside in Quincy, Mass.
