Women’s Soccer Earns 1-1 Tie at New England College in NECC-Opener

HENNIKER, N.H.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team battled New England College to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon in the first league match of the season.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The two teams headed into the halftime intermission deadlocked at 0-0.
• The visitors captured a 1-0 lead in the 71st minute. Deeana Castro (Boise, Idaho) floated a right-footed shot into the back of the net to collect her first collegiate goal.
• New England College pulled even at 1-1 in the 80th minute. Brynn Murphy notched her second tally of the year with a left-footed shot from the endline.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Goalkeeper Jasmine Arzu (Bronx, N.Y) posted 14 saves in her 10th start of the campaign.
• Eastern Nazarene concluded the contest with nine shots and four corner kicks.
