QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College posted a 1-0 victory over Rivier Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium in head coach Taylor Dempsey's first match at the helm.
The Lions start the season with a 1-0-0 overall record with the win while the Raiders slip to 0-1-0 on the year.
The home team got on the board in the 43rd minute to grab a 1-0 edge. Beatriz de Oliveira Segato (Malden, Mass.) netted her first goal of the year as Diamond Best (Danver, Mass.) slipped a pass to Segato alone inside the box.
Eastern Nazarene fired nine shots in the opening stanza while Rivier registered five attempts.
The Lions fended off the Raiders' offense in the second half to lock up their first win of the season. The hosts finished the match with 15 shots while the visitors posted 11 on the night.
Sophia Fevola (Wellington, Fla.) recorded three saves in her first start of the season in goal for the Lions.
