Women’s Soccer Lands Three on All-NECC Second Team
MANSFIELD, Mass.- Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.), Maider Ruiz de Erenchun (Acosta, Alava, Spain), and Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team were named to the All-New England Collegiate Conference second team, announced the league office Friday.
Bernardi collects her second career All-NECC nod after earning third team honors a year ago. The junior was one of four players to start all 15 matches this fall and posted eight points during the regular season, tallying three goals and added a pair of assists.
Ruiz de Erenchun started all 15 contests this season and anchored the Lions' backline. She also contributed with one goal and one assist this year.
Minchaca started 12 games between the pipes and registered one shutout. She amassed 93 saves during the regular season and posted a 1.71 goals-against-average in conference play.
Senior Michaela Connors (Norwell, Mass.) was tabbed to the NECC Del Malloy Sportsmanship Team for the second-straight year. The team captain started 14 matches this fall for the Lions.
Eastern Nazarene finished the regular season with a 3-11-1 overall record and a 2-5-0 mark in the NECC. The Lions claimed the No. 5 seed in the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament and will travel to fourth-seeded Becker Saturday, November 2 in the opening round.
