NORTH QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team endured a 3-0 loss to Southern Maine Saturday afternoon on Homecoming at Creedon Field in the first-ever matchup between the two teams.
The Lions fall to 2-9-1 on the year with the result while the Huskies improve to 6-9-1 overall.
The visitors claimed a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Ciera Berthiaume bagged her team-leading eighth goal of the season with a long-range attempt as Abigail Mazza picked up an assist.
Southern Maine tacked on a score in the 29th minute to widen the gap to 2-0. Alex Allain dribbled box to box before slotting a shot inside the far post to collect her fourth tally of the fall.
Eastern Nazarene managed three shots in the first half while the Huskies attempted 11.
The guests added a goal in the 54th minute to push their advantage to 3-0. Mazza knocked in her first goal of the year after Emily Bragg rang a shot off the right post.
The Lions finished with nine shots in the match while the Huskies racked up 24 attempts with six corner kicks.
Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) paced the home team with four shots on the afternoon while Maider Ruiz de Erenchun (Acosta, Alava, Spain) attempted two shots.
Senior Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) posted seven saves in her ninth start of the season.
