QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team absorbed a 4-0 setback to Gordon Wednesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions slip to 1-6-1 on the season with the outcome while the Fighting Scots climb to 7-1-1 overall.
The guests grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Sophia Mammana buried her first goal of the season as she knocked in a cross by Lexi Potter.
Gordon doubled its advantage to 2-0 with a score in the 41st minute. Kyra Skurcenski flicked a header into the back of the net for her second tally of the year off of a corner kick by Calla Ashley.
The Fighting Scots tacked on their third goal of the first frame in the 42nd minute to widen the gap to 3-0. Emily Rodriguez notched her fourth marker of the fall as she pounced on a rebound inside the box.
The visitors boasted a 3-0 lead at the midway point of the match after generating 13 shots in the opening period. Eastern Nazarene produced four first-half attempts.
Gordon added a goal in the 81st minute to push its advantage to 4-0. Rodriguez collected her fifth goal of the season and second on the night with a left-footed shot inside the box.
The Lions finished with 11 shots on the evening while the Fighting Scots recorded 25 attempts.
Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) paced the hosts with five shots in the contest while Victoria Hern (Salem, N.H.) and Bernardi both fired a pair of shots on frame.
Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) registered nine saves in goal for Eastern Nazarene in her fifth start of the season.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene resumes conference play with a home match against Becker September 30.
