CHICOPEE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Elms Saturday afternoon in the first New England Collegiate Conference match of the fall.
The Lions fall to 1-5-1 on the season and 0-1-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the result. The Blazers improve to 6-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league competition with the win.
The home team seized a 1-0 advantage in the 30th minute. Sydney Goodwin tallied her fourth goal of the season as she knocked in a feed by Morgan Foucault.
The visitors trailed 1-0 at the half despite owning a 5-4 edge in first-half shots along with a 4-3 margin in corner kicks earned.
Elms tacked on its second goal of the game in the 51st minute to extend the gap to 2-0. Foucault bagged her second marker of the year while Elaina Vilar picked up an assist.
Eastern Nazarene finished the contest with eight shots, led by Sam Bernard (Longmeadow, Mass.) with three attempts along with two shots on goal. The Blazers fired 11 shots on the afternoon while both squads earned five corner kicks each.
Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) registered three saves in her fourth start of the season in net.
