NORTH ADAMS, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Southern Vermont Sunday afternoon in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Tournament quarterfinals at Shewcraft Field on the campus of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
The Lions finish the campaign with a 7-9-1 overall record while the Mountaineers improve to 9-6-2 on the year and advance to the NECC Tournament semifinals.
The home team snagged a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. Molly Madore finished off a corner kick delivered into the box by Ashley Blom for her fifth tally of the season.
Eastern Nazarene attempted two shots in the first half while Southern Vermont managed four shots.
The Mountaineers drew a penalty kick in the opening minute of the second stanza but Naya Cerda's attempt ricocheted off the crossbar.
Southern Vermont extended its advantage to 2-0 as it capitalized on its second penalty kick of the match. Madore converted from the spot in the 57th minute to collect her sixth marker of the year and second of the game.
The hosts tacked on their third score of the day in the 69th minute to widen the margin to 3-0. Megan Macdonald bagged her first goal of the fall while Blom picked up her second assist of the contest.
The Lions concluded the match with 10 shots and the Mountaineers produced 11 attempts on the afternoon.
Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) paced Eastern Nazarene with four shots while Libby Nyquist (Barre, Vt.) fired a pair of shots.
Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) recorded four saves between the pipes for the visitors.
