Women’s Soccer Earns 3-2 Come-From-Behind Victory at Becker
LEICESTER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to top Becker 3-2 Saturday afternoon in a key conference clash.
The Lions improve to 7-7-1 on the season and 4-3-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the win. The Hawks fall to 9-6-3 overall and 4-3-1 in league play with the result.
The home team seized a one-goal lead in the 12th minute. Lindsey Keith tallied her league-leading 24th goal of the season off of an assist by Ciara McKissick.
Becker chalked up a score in the 34th minute to double its advantage to 2-0. Skyler Tenney picked up her fourth marker of the fall as Shannon Kelley provided the assist.
The visitors managed six shots in the first half while the Hawks attempted eight shots.
The Lions narrowed the gap to 2-1 in the 60th minute. Kennedy Dowling (Nashua, N.H.) buried her third goal of the season. The senior dribbled around a pair of defenders before unleashing a left-footed strike that found the back of the net.
Eastern Nazarene leveled the match in the 70th minute, 2-2. Diamond Best (Danvers, Mass.) collected her ninth tally of the year as she converted a penalty kick.
The Lions netted the go-ahead goal in the 88th minute to snag their first lead of the game, 3-2. Stephanie MacFarland (Jupiter, Fla.) pounced on a loose ball inside the box and blasted a shot into an open cage for her first marker of the season.
Both squads concluded the contest with 15 shots each while Becker held an 8-3 edge in corner kicks.
Rookie Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) made five saves in her 15th game between the posts.
