Women’s Soccer Endures 4-0 Setback to New England College
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team dropped a midweek matchup to New England College 4-0 Wednesday evening at Creedon Field.
The Lions fall to 4-7-1 on the season and 1-3-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the result. The Pilgrims improve to 8-6-2 overall and 4-0-1 in league matches with the win.
The guests bagged an early goal to seize a 1-0 edge less than two minutes into the contest. Michaela Pomeroy tallied her sixth marker of the fall as she buried a loose ball inside the box.
New England College doubled its lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute. Emily LePage netted her team-leading 12th goal of the season as she smashed a left-footed shot into the right side of the cage off of an assist by Pomeroy.
The home team attempted four shots in the first frame while the Pilgrims produced 13 shots.
New England College tacked on a goal in the 53rd minute to widen the gap to 3-0. LePage headed home her 13th tally of the year and second of the night as Delaney Dupuis served a corner kick into the box.
The Pilgrims chalked up a score in the 71st minute to stretch the margin to 4-0. Pomeroy slotted a shot into the lower right corner on a breakaway to collect her second marker of the game and seventh of the season.
Eastern Nazarene finished with 10 shots in the match while New England College fired 20.
Rookie Macie Harlan (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) registered a team-high four shots, including a pair on frame.
Between the pipes, Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) recorded six saves on the night.
