DUDLEY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team edged Nichols 2-1 Wednesday evening at Vendetti Field.
The Lions improve to 4-6-0 on the season with the victory while the Bison fall to 3-7-1 overall.
The two teams were level at 0-0 after 45 minutes of action. The visitors fired three shots in the first frame while the hosts chalked up six attempts.
Eastern Nazarene got on the board in the 61st minute to capture a 1-0 lead. Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) found the back of the net with a long-range left-footed effort to collect her team-best 11th goal of the season. Kyndall Fry (Tampa, Fla.) picked up her team-leading sixth assist on the year on the match's opening score.
Nichols bagged an equalizer in the 73rd minute to knot the contest at 1-1. Nicole Gidley headed in her second marker of the fall off of a corner kick delivery by Kaylin Goncalves.
The Lions regained a one-goal edge in the 86th minute, 2-1, on a long-distance strike by Macie Harlan (Land O'Lakes, Fla.). Victoria Hern (Salem, N.H.) registered her second assist of the year on Harlan's second tally of the fall.
The guests finished with 14 shots in the game while the home side generated 17 attempts.
Rookie goalkeeper Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) posted eight saves on the night.
