WEYMOUTH, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Southern Vermont Saturday afternoon at the Union Point Sports Complex.
The Lions slide to 3-4-0 on the year and 1-1-0 in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Mountaineers improve to 1-4-2 overall and 1-1-0 in league competition.
The guests seized a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute on an unassisted strike by Taylor Mallett.
Eastern Nazarene fired eight shots in the opening frame while Southern Vermont produced 10 attempts.
The Mountaineers doubled their advantage to 2-0 in the 62nd minute. Naya Cerda's free kick shot deflected off of a defender and bounced into the cage for her first tally of the season.
The Lions concluded the contest with 18 shots and Southern Vermont posted 19 shot attempts on the day. Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) paced the home team with six shots in the match while Macie Harlan (Land O'Lakes, Fla.) recorded a team-high three shots on goal.
Rookie Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) collected seven saves in her seventh appearance of the fall.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene heads back out on the road for an inter-conference contest at Gordon September 26.
