NEWPORT, R.I.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team was edged 2-1 at Salve Regina Saturday afternoon in non-league play.
The Lions progress to 1-1-0 on the season with the setback while the Seahawks improve to 1-0-0 overall.
The home team snagged a 1-0 edge in the 13th minute as Abby McMackin netted her first goal of the season with a left-footed strike.
The guests answered in the 25th minute to level the match at 1-1. Victoria Hern (Salem, N.H.) buried a left-footed attempt into the right side of the cage to pick up her second marker of the year.
Eastern Nazarene posted six shots in the first frame while Salve Regina attempted nine.
The Seahawks regained a one-goal advantage, 2-1, in the 84th minute. McMackin fired in a right-footed shot from 12 yards out after a centering-pass by Devyn DeFalco to tally her second goal of the game.
The Lions finished with seven shots in the contest. Salve Regina generated 17 shots and owned an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.
Rookie Sarah Moschini (Upton, Mass.) made seven saves between the posts.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene travels to Regis (Mass.) September 4 for a non-conference clash.
