NORTH QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 setback to the University of New England Saturday afternoon at Creedon Field.
The Lions sink to 4-4-0 on the year and 0-2-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the result. The Nor'easters improve to 5-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in league play with the win.
The guests grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. Katie Beaudoin netted her team-leading sixth goal of the season with a breakaway finish as Becca Murphy provided the assist.
Both squads fired six shots in the opening half while the University of New England held a narrow 4-3 edge in corner kicks earned.
The Nor'easters widened the margin to 2-0 in the 64th minute on Beaudoin's second tally of the contest.
The University of New England chalked up its third goal of the game in the 72nd minute as Caroline Wilson headed in a corner kick service by Katie LaMarre to pick up her first marker of the fall.
The visitors added a score in the 86th minute to push its advantage to 4-0. Kat Buscemi headed home a cross by Amanda Gagne.
Eastern Nazarene finished with eight shots in the game while the University of New England racked up 26 attempts.
Rookie Kyndall Fry (Tampa, Fla.) paced the Lions with four shots on the afternoon while Sam Bernardi (Longmeadow, Mass.) fired two shots.
Senior Kyera Bryant (Guilford, Conn.) recorded nine saves in her fifth start of the season between the pipes.
