CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team absorbed a 6-0 loss at Lesley Friday evening in the 2017 season opener.
The Lions slip to 0-1-0 on the year while the Lynx improve to 1-0-0 overall with the outcome.
The home side grabbed an early 1-0 lead as Xaelel Allen-Caballe netted her first goal of the season off of an assist by Karlie Rubin in the seventh minute.
Lesley doubled its advantage to 2-0 in the 19th minute as Jordan Mitchell found the back of the net for her first tally of the year with Allen-Caballe providing the assist.
The Lynx tacked on a goal in the 23rd minute to widen the gap to 3-0. Mitchell buried her second goal of the game as she fired home a cross by Rubin.
Eastern Nazarene produced one shot in the opening half while Lesley recorded eight attempts.
The hosts extended their lead to 4-0 in the 53rd minute as Samantha Turnbull headed in a corner kick service off the foot of Rachel Buckley.
The Lynx pushed the margin to 5-0 on a marker by Sam Ring in the 61st minute of play.
Lesley capped off the scoring in the 78th minute as Cynthia Ramos knocked in a rebound after Maddy Kelly's free kick effort hit the crossbar.
The Lions finished with a pair of shots in the contest while the home team generated 20 shots. Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) fired Eastern Nazarene's lone shot on frame.
Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) registered five saves in goal for the visitors before Michaela Connors (Norwell, Mass.) made her first career appearance between the pipes.
Up next, Eastern Nazarene will host Johnson & Wales (R.I.) in the first home match of the season September 4.
