BOSTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie at Simmons Wednesday evening.
The Lions progress to 3-10-1 on the fall and the Sharks move to 6-6-2 overall with the result.
The home side grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Ciara Forde notched her third goal of the year in the eighth minute, intercepting a clearance attempt before slotting a shot into the lower right corner.
Eastern Nazarene attempted three shots in the opening stanza while Simmons recorded seven tries.
The Lions tallied the game-tying goal in the 71st minute as Alexis Schmidt (North Smithfield, R.I.) deposited her third marker of the season, finishing off a cross from the left flank by Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.).
Eastern Nazarene ended regulation with nine shots while Simmons fired 13 through 90 minutes of action.
The visitors finished with 10 shots and the hosts concluded the contest with 15 after neither team was able to find the back of the net in the two overtime sessions.
Junior Anastasia Swift (Morrisville, Vt.) turned aside seven shots between the pipes for the Lions on the night.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene will host Roger Williams on Homecoming weekend October 15.
