BIDDEFORD, Maine- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team absorbed a 3-0 loss at the University of New England Saturday afternoon.
The Lions sink to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Nor'easters improve to 6-1 on the year and 3-0 in league action with the result.
Despite Eastern Nazarene mustering one shot in the opening frame and allowing 15 attempts by the home side, the two squads headed into the halftime intermission deadlocked at 0-0.
The University of New England grabbed a 1-0 edge in the 61st minute. Katie Beaudoin slotted a low shot inside the left post for her third goal of the fall. Edie Paliozzi and Taylor Littlefield both picked up assists on the score.
The Nor'easters doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 72nd minute as Beaudoin found the back of the net for the second time in the contest, firing home a loose ball inside the box.
The hosts tacked on their third goal of the second stanza in the 76th minute. Beaudoin completed the hat trick with her fifth tally of the season, finishing off a feed by Anna Michaud.
Eastern Nazarene registered a pair of shots on the day while the University of New England racked up 37 attempts.
Alexis Schmidt (North Smithfield, R.I.) fired the Lions' lone shot on goal in the game and Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) attempted one shot.
Anastasia Swift (Morrisville, Vt.) finished with 14 saves between the posts for the guests.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns home to take on Becker September 28 in a non-conference matchup.
