Women’s Soccer Drops First League Match to Endicott, 6-0
QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team fell to Endicott 6-0 to open the conference slate Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions slide to 0-4-0 on the season and 0-1-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. The Gulls improve to 3-0-1 overall and 1-0-0 in league play.
The visitors netted the game's opening goal in the 19th minute. Hannah Pesci buried her first collegiate score after gathering a loose ball inside the box.
Endicott added a goal in the 25th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Rachel Hanna headed home her third marker of the fall after Paige Pratt lofted a pass into the center of penalty area.
The Gulls tacked on their third tally of the opening stanza in the 29th minute to widen the gap to 3-0. Abigail Silverstein dribbled to the endline and zipped a pass to Catherine Elkas who booted the ball into the back of the net for her second score of the season.
The guests extended their advantage to 4-0 in the 31st minute. Sharlotte Pernice picked up her second goal of the year with a left-footed effort and Elkas collected her second assist of the fall.
Endicott outshot Eastern Nazarene 15-0 in the first half and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks earned.
The Gulls pushed their lead to 5-0 in the 53rd minute as Pernice fired in her second tally of the day.
The Lions' first shot of the contest came in the 55th minute as Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) launched a right-footed attempted on frame.
The visitors scored their sixth goal of the game in the 77th minute as Pratt found the back of the net with a shot off of a direct free kick to register her first marker of the year.
Endicott attempted 31 shots in the contest while Eastern Nazarene recorded one shot.
Anastasia Swift (Morrisville, Vt.) and Griselda Minchaca (Whittier, Calif.) each played 45 minutes between the pipes for the hosts. Minchaca stopped four shots on the afternoon while Swift finished without a save.
