BIDDEFORD, Maine- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team endured a 2-0 loss at the University of New England in a critical Commonwealth Coast Conference tilt Saturday.
The Lions dip to 5-7-3 on the year and 2-4-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with the setback. The Nor'Easters improve to 11-5-0 overall and 6-2-0 in league play.
Lauren Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.) nearly found the back of the net for the visitors in the 26th minute but her effort ricocheted off of the post.
The University of New England got on the board in the 33rd minute to capture a 1-0 edge. Devon Wolfendon blasted her third goal of the season into the back of the net from inside the penalty box after a cross from the right flank by Becca Murphy.
The Nor'Easters established a two-goal cushion in the 71st minute, 2-0. Hannah Sihler booted home a rebound for her first tally of the fall after Anna Michaud's attempt was saved.
Eastern Nazarene fired seven shots in the contest while the University of New England generated 23 attempts.
Sophomore Kelly Couite (West Bridgewater, Mass.) recorded a team-high five shots on the afternoon.
Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) stopped nine shots in net for the Lions. Brielle Robinson made five saves between the posts for the home team.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene closes out the regular season at home against Wentworth October 27.
