Women’s Soccer Endures 3-0 Loss to Lesley in Season-Opener

QUINCY, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback to Lesley in the 2015 season opener Tuesday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
The Lions dip to 0-1-0 on the year with the result. The win propels the Lynx to 1-0-0 overall.
Lesley got on the board first with a score in the 28th minute of the match. Hayley Wirth dribbled down the center of the pitch before slipping a pass to Cassidy Hopkins at the top of the 18-yard box. Hopkins' one-timer floated into the left side of the cage for her first of the season to give the Lynx a 1-0 lead.
The visitors add a goal in the 34th minute to push their advantage to 2-0. Jordan Mitchell nodded in her first tally of the fall off of a cross by Kai Morehead.
At the break, Lesley clung to a 2-0 lead after recording eight first-half shots. Eastern Nazarene managed just two shots in the opening 45 minutes of action.
The Lynx tacked on their third score of the night in the 80th minute as Mitchell knocked in her second goal of the game, tapping in a cross off the foot of Samantha Bessey.
Lesley finished the match with a 15-4 margin in shots, including a 9-1 advantage in shots on frame.
Senior Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) turned aside six shots in goal for Eastern Nazarene. Jackie Berard and Lilly Donovan combined to post the clean sheet for the Lynx.
Looking ahead, the Lions remain at home and will host Moravian September 5 at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 11 am.
