Kristen Farley Repeats as CCC Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Junior goalkeeper Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week, as announced by the league office Sunday evening.
Farley backstopped the Lions to a 1-0-1 record on the week while helping them reach the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament for the second time in three years.
In Eastern Nazarene's final regular-season match, Farley stopped a pair of shots to earn her fifth shutout on the fall as the Lions' downed Endicott 3-0. The victory marked the first-ever win over the Gulls while also launching Eastern Nazarene into third-place in the CCC standings, the highest finish in team history.
The junior registered one save as the Lions played to a 1-1 draw against Western New England in the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. Farley blocked one penalty kick attempt as third-seeded Eastern Nazarene topped the sixth-seeded Golden Bears in a shootout 5-4 to advance to the CCC semifinals.
Farley and the Lions will host the program's first-ever home semifinal contest November 2. Eastern Nazarene will square off against seventh-seeded Wentworth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament second round.
The Lions boast a 9-9-1 overall record on the year and wrapped up the regular season with a 6-3-0 mark in league play.
