Women’s Soccer Trio Claims CCC Weekly Awards
QUINCY, Mass.- Senior Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), junior Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) and rookie Kyera Bryant (Guilford, Conn.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team have been recognized as the Commonwealth Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, announced by the league office Monday.
The three players played vital roles in the Lions' 2-0-0 week. Eastern Nazarene picked up the program's first-ever victory over Gordon before downing Nichols on Senior Day.
Speno collected her second career CCC Offensive Player of the Week honor after netting the Lions' lone goal in a 1-0 win at Gordon. The senior broke the 0-0 tie in the 77th minute with her third tally of the season.
Farley made 12 saves and posted a 0.50 goals-against average between the pipes on the week. The junior stopped all six shots she faced in the victory at Gordon to pick up her fourth shutout of the fall. She capped off the week with a six-save effort against Nichols.
Bryant scored the go-ahead goal in the 80th minute for her second marker of the fall to propel the Lions to a 2-1 win over Nichols.
Eastern Nazarene sports an 8-9-0 overall record and heads into the final match of the regular season tied for fourth-place in the league standings with Gordon as both squads own a 5-3-0 conference record.
The Lions will wrap up the regular season October 28 at home against Endicott.
