WALTHAM, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team absorbed a 1-0 loss at #20 Brandeis Tuesday evening in non-conference action.
The Lions dip to 5-8-0 on the season with the loss while the Judges improve to 11-1 overall.
The home team got on the board in the 18th minute as Samantha Schwartz lofted a shot into the right side of the cage from the left side of the penalty box. Sapir Edalati picked up an assist on Schwartz's seventh goal of the season.
The Lions trailed at the half 1-0. Eastern Nazarene fired four shots in the first frame while Brandeis recorded five. The Judges held a 4-1 advantage in shots on goal through 45 minutes.
The hosts stymied the Lions in the second half to secure their 11th straight victory and eighth consecutive shutout.
Eastern Nazarene attempted three shots in the second stanza and finished with seven shots in the contest. Brandeis concluded the game with 14 shots after firing nine in the second half.
Alexis Schmidt (North Smithfield, R.I.) registered a team-high three shots in the match for Eastern Nazarene while Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Sam Williams (Forest Hill, Md.) each finished with two shots each.
Junior Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) stopped six shots between the pipes for the Lions. Michelle Savuto and Alexis Grossman each made one save in goal for Brandeis.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene returns home to square off against Commonwealth Coast Conference foe Curry October 11.
