Kelly Couite Joins Women’s Soccer’s Incoming Class
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene women's soccer head coach Steve Hamilton has announced the second member of the team's class of 2018. The Lions welcome Kelly Couite to the fall's incoming group.
Couite hails from West Bridgewater, Mass. and is in the midst of her senior year at Norfolk County Agricultural High School in nearby Walpole, Mass.
A striker and midfielder, Couite is a three-time Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) all-star. She has also earned the Most Promising Freshman Soccer Player award and the team's 3-D award which recognizes a player's desire, determination and dedication. Couite served as a team captain of the Rams.
Couite played a key role in helping the Rams capture three MIAA Vocational Tournament championships, two Mayflower League titles and three appearances in the MIAA South Sectional Tournament.
At the club level, Couite plays for Tidal Wave SC Sting based out of Providence, R.I.
"I am excited to attend a small school and to be a part of a team that is more like a family," stated Couite. "I feel that I will fit in well at Eastern Nazarene and enjoy my time at this school and on the team. I am grateful to have the opportunity to play collegiate soccer. This is a goal that I have always strived and hoped for and I am excited to be a Lion."
"Kelly is a type of player that will bring a different look to our program. She's a creative one-on-one attacker who likes to run at defenders. This will add a new dimension to our attack," offered Hamilton. "From a physical standpoint, she can run for days and has a great deal of pace which benefits her in getting behind a back line. I look forward to watching her come to life in our program as I believe she has only scratched the surface of her potential."
In Hamilton's seventh season, the Lions set a new program record with 11 victories and finished with an 11-8-1 overall mark. Eastern Nazarene reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs for the third straight season and earned the program's first-ever berth to the ECAC Tournament last fall.
Couite joins Kirah Carney as the Lions' incoming class.
