Kirah Carney Becomes Women’s Soccer’s First Class of 2018 Member
QUINCY, Mass.- Eastern Nazarene women's soccer head coach Steve Hamilton has announced the addition of Kirah Carney to the fall's incoming class.
Carney is a forward/back from Exeter, N.H. where she attends Winnacunnet High School. She was named Winnacunnet's team MVP as a freshman after tallying 20 goals and 22 assists in her first season. Carney led Winnacunnet to the state semifinals in 2011.
She plays at the club level with Seacoast United. Carney helped Seacoast United capture back-to-back Disney Showcase titles in 2011 and 2012. She also participated in the club soccer national championships in 2011 with Seacoast United.
Carney has been an assistant coach with Seacoast United's youth squads since 2010.
"I knew ENC was where I wanted to attend college and play soccer from the moment I visited campus and met the team," said Carney. "Coach Hamilton is a great motivator and he believes in his players. He wants his team to succeed both in the classroom and on the field. I also liked that ENC's campus was situated near Boston and I was impressed with the Biology Department."
"Kirah is a versatile player. Her ability to play at any position can be attributed to her high soccer IQ. From a technical standpoint, she does a lot well which allows her to play within different styles," commented Hamilton. "Kirah is going to be a great teammate and fit in well with our group. She's the type of person who will have your back. I have seen this since day one with the trust that she has put in me and our program. I look forward to reciprocating that trust by spurring her on towards greatness."
In Hamilton's seventh season, the Lions set a new program record with 11 victories and finished with an 11-8-1 overall mark. Eastern Nazarene reached the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs for the third straight season and earned the program's first-ever berth to the ECAC Tournament last fall.
