Katherine Lawrence Garners CCC Women’s Soccer Rookie of the Week Honors
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Freshman midfielder Katherine Lawrence (Marlborough, Conn.) of the Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
Lawrence helped the Lions post a 1-1-0 record on the week.
The rookie tallied the lone goal in Eastern Nazarene's 1-0 overtime victory over Western New England October 19 in front of the Homecoming crowd at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
Lawrence buried her eighth score of the season in the 95th minute to lift the Lions to victory, snapping a five-match skid. She fired a season-high 10 shots in the match, targeting four on frame.
The tally was Lawrence's first since September 25 against Becker, breaking a five-match scoring drought.
She also registered a team-best four shots in Eastern Nazarene's 3-0 loss at Endicott October 15, finishing the week with 14 total shots.
Lawrence ranks third on the squad and eighth in the league with 20 points on the fall. She also ranks seventh in the conference with eight goals on the year while adding four assists. The rookie leads the Commonwealth Coast Conference with four game-winning tallies this season.
Eastern Nazarene owns a 9-6-0 overall record with a 2-4-0 mark in conference play.
Up next, the Lions remain at home as they welcome Wentworth October 22 to Veterans Memorial Stadium.
