Women's Soccer Scores NSCAA Team Academic Award
QUINCY, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene women’s soccer team has received the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year.
QUINCY, Mass. – The Eastern Nazarene women's soccer team has received the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year. This marks the second-consecutive year and third time in program history that the Lions were honored with the team award after previously earning it in 2005 and 2011.
The Lions were one of 503 women's squads to garner the accolade with a team grade-point average of 3.28. Five women's teams from the Commonwealth Coast Conference received the award as Endicott, Roger Williams, Salve Regina and the University of New England were also recognized along with Eastern Nazarene.
The Lions posted a 9-8-3 overall record this fall with a 5-2-2 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Eastern Nazarene reached the semifinals of the CCC Tournament before falling to top-seeded Gordon 3-2. The Lions earned the #4 seed in the playoffs and defeated the University of New England, the fifth seed, 1-0 in the program's first-ever home postseason contest.
Sophomore Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was selected to the All-CCC first team after tallying a team-high 25 points on 11 goals and three assists. Tina Corey (Canterbury, Conn.) earned a spot on the All-CCC second team while Morgan Goodney (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Amelia Gonzales (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) both received honorable mention.
