Women’s Soccer Battles Regis to Scoreless Draw

WESTON, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team played Regis to a 0-0 draw in non-conference play Wednesday evening. The Lions progress to 1-5-1 on the year while the Pride moves to 3-1-1 overall with the result.
Regis held a slight 4-3 edge in shots through the opening 45 minutes of play while Eastern Nazarene earned the only two corner kicks award in the first half.
The Lions offense exploded in the second frame, firing 11 shots and earning six chances from the corner flag. The home defense stood tall as it allowed just two shots on frame while keeping the match scoreless.
In the first overtime session, Regis recorded a pair of shots while Eastern Nazarene mustered one. Each side was rewarded a corner kick in the first extra frame.
The Lions posted three shots while limiting the Pride to two in the final 10 minutes of bonus soccer.
Eastern Nazarene finished the contest with 18 shots while Regis concluded the game with 12.
Rookie Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) turned aside eight shots in the match to register her second-straight shutout. Rachel Gagnon made 10 saves in goal for the hosts on the night.
Tina Corey (Canterbury, Conn.) paced all players with five shots in the contest while Erin Daley (Byfield, Mass.) added three.
Up next, the Lions resume league play as they host Endicott September 22 in the home-opener at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
