Women’s Soccer Falls to Nationally-Ranked Springfield in Season Opener

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at #25 Springfield College to start the 2012 season. The Lions dip to 0-1 on the year while the Pride advanced to 1-0 overall.
In her first collegiate start, rookie netminder Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) made a pair of saves in 45 minutes of action. Sophomore Rachel Henry (Lowell, Mass.) stopped four shots between the pipes for the visitors.
Springfield opened the scoring in the 14th minute as Breena Salwocki picked up an unassisted tally to give the home side a 1-0 edge.
The Pride doubled its lead to two goals in the 52nd minute of the match. Nina Vital finished a feed from Erica Donnelly for her first of the season.
Donnelly tacked on Springfield's third marker of the game in the 54th minute. Jessica Miller recorded an assist on the tally.
The Lions will look to bounce back in game two of the Springfield College Tournament against Westfield State September 1.
