HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team bested Bay Path 84-39 Tuesday evening in the final regular-season road game.
The Lions climb to 17-3 on the year and 10-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) with the win to maintain their position atop the league standings. The Wildcats slip to 2-18 overall and 1-11 in conference competition with the result.
Jenn Burnham (West Valley City, Utah) netted a team-high 16 points. Moira Phillips (Middlesex, N.J.) notched 10 points and seven rebounds. Janeth Cruz (Reseda, Calif.), Nahatabaa Nacona (Chinle, Ariz.), and Stevie Orton (Gilford, N.H.) all poured in nine points on the night while Sabrina Zerbey (Tracy, Calif.) chipped in with eight points.
The visitors established a double-digit lead with 2:42 left to play in the first quarter on a trey by Nacona, 15-5.
Eastern Nazarene sported a 15-7 advantage at the start of the second period.
The Lions started the second frame with a 14-0 run to widen the gap to 29-7 with 4:51 remaining.
The guests outscored the home side 18-9 in the second quarter to take a comfortable 33-16 lead into the halftime intermission.
Eastern Nazarene chalked up the first 12 points of the third period to extend the margin to 45-16 with 6:45 to go in the quarter.
The Lions netted 20 points in the third while limiting Bay Path to just seven to own a 30-point advantage heading to the fourth frame, 53-23.
Eastern Nazarene poured in 31 points in the final period and allowed 16 points to seal its second-straight conference victory.
The Lions concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 48.5% while connecting on 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. The Wildcats shot 26.4% from the floor and 38.9% from the perimeter on the night.
Heaven Rodriguez and Emmeline Bronson provided the bulk of the hosts' offensive output as Rodriguez paced Bay Path with 24 points while Bronson contributed with 11 points.
