Women’s Basketball Triumphs at Bay Path, 86-26
HOLYOKE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team bested Bay Path, 86-26, Thursday evening in the final regular-season contest.
The Lions jump to 17-7 on the season and 12-5 in the New England Collegiate Conference with the victory. The Wildcats slide to 1-20 overall and 0-16 in league competition with the outcome.
Stella Dulay (Santa Maria, Calif.) scored a game-high and career-best 19 points off the bench to go with five assists and four rebounds. Jazmine Sudler (Carrollton, Texas) netted a career-high 10 points off the bench while Kyra Fleharty (Lewistown, Mont.) also added 10 points. Emma Farrow (Blanchester, Ohio), Shaylee Todani (Wahiawa, Hawaii), and Hannah Walls (Santa Maria, Calif.) all tallied eight points on the night.
The visitors started the contest with a 10-0 run spanning the opening five minutes of play.
Eastern Nazarene boasted a 16-4 advantage at the conclusion of the first quarter.
The Lions chalked up 12 consecutive points to begin the second period and widen the gap to 28-4 with 5:22 remaining in the frame.
The guests controlled a commanding 41-10 lead at the midway point of the game.
Eastern Nazarene outscored the home team 24-16 in the third quarter to extend its advantage to 65-26 heading to the final period.
The Lions dominated the Wildcats in the fourth, pouring in 21 points while not allowing a bucket to pick up the wire-to-wire win.
Eastern Nazarene posted a field-goal percentage of 51.7% on the night and connected on 9-of-15 attempts from beyond the arc. Bay Path was limited to 25% shooting from the floor and just 2-for-6 shooting from three-point range.
Emmeline Bronson paced the Wildcats with 15 points while Jo Nazario chipped in with nine.
