Kyra Fleharty Garners NECC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors
MARSHFIELD, Mass.- Junior Kyra Fleharty (Lewistown, Mont.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Player of the Week, announced the conference office Monday.
Fleharty averaged 17.5 points per contest to power the Lions to a 1-1 record.
In Eastern Nazarene's 64-51 loss at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez, she netted 12 points and hauled in four boards.
Fleharty poured in a game-high 23 points, collected eight rebounds, and racked up six blocks to lead the Lions past Simmons 70-57 in non-conference action.
In the two-game stretch, the junior shot 56.5% from the floor and splashed three treys while converted 6-of-10 from the free throw stripe.
This season, Fleharty ranks second on the team with 11.2 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game. She also ranks second in the league with 1.4 blocks per contest while ranking third in the conference with 33.3% three-point shooting accuracy.
Looking ahead, Eastern Nazarene is slated to host defending NECC champion Becker January 8.
