Women’s Basketball Rolls Past Lesley Thursday, 80-52
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball cruised to an 80-52 victory at Lesley Thursday evening.
The Lions jump to 2-0 on the season while the Lynx fall to 0-1 overall with the outcome.
Jessica Franco (Phoenix, Ariz.) netted 15 points and grabbed four boards while Ashley Rendon (La Puente, Calif.) also poured in 15 points off the bench. Jaysa Cooper (Frisco, Texas) finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Jacquelin Arretche (Los Banos, Calif.) tallied 13 points and Sam Cary (Keller, Texas) gathered a team-high nine boards to go with six points. Shelby Holmes (Seeley Lake, Mont.) recorded six points, five rebounds and five steals on the night.
The guests utilized an early 7-0 run to grab an 11-4 lead, capped off with a trey by Arretche with 5:29 remaining in the first quarter.
Eastern Nazarene chalked up five unanswered points to end the opening frame with a 24-13 lead as Rendon banked in a layup and Arretche splashed a three-pointer just before the buzzer.
The Lions scored 11 straight points in the second period to widen the margin to 36-15 with 5:11 left to play in the half.
The visitors outscored the home side 24-9 in the second quarter to boast a 48-22 halftime advantage.
Eastern Nazarene stretched its lead to 30 points on a layup by Cooper with 7:53 on the clock in the third, 54-24.
The Lions headed into the fourth sporting a commanding 70-40 lead.
Lesley edged Easter Nazarene in fourth-quarter scoring 12-10 as the guests locked up their second-consecutive win. The Lions drained 5-of-19 field-goal attempts in the final frame while the Lynx converted eight free throws and added a pair of jumpers.
The Lions shot 39.5% from the floor and 27.8% from the perimeter in the game. The Lynx finished with a field-goal percentage of 32.8% while connecting on just 2-of-13 from beyond the arc.
Kylie Lounder paced Lesley with 17 points while Dakota Jones posted a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
