Women’s Hoops Bottles Up Becker in 70-41 Victory
LEICESTER, Mass.- The Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team prevailed 70-41 in a non-conference bout at Becker Thursday evening.
The Lions improve to 6-4 on the season while the Hawks plummet to 1-8 overall.
Sophomore Jaysa Cooper (Frisco, Texas) led the way with 10 points and 11 rebounds to record her first career double-double. Nicole Greer (Odenton, Md.) poured in 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, including a pair of three-pointers. BreAnna Fraser (Henderson, Nev.) finished with nine points off the bench. Jessica Franco (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Katelyn Memory (Kiowa, Colo.) each netted eight points.
The visitors tallied 21 points in the opening quarter while confining the home team to eight points.
Eastern Nazarene widened its advantage to 25 points after outscoring Becker 20-8 in the second stanza to control a 41-16 lead at halftime.
The Lions expanded the margin to 63-29 at the conclusion of the third frame. The guests racked up 23 points in the third period while surrendering 13 points to the Hawks.
Despite chalking up just six points in the fourth quarter, Eastern Nazarene collected its second-straight win. Becker produced 12 points in the final 10 minutes of action.
The Lions shot 39.1% from the floor and connected on 10-of-21 attempts from beyond the arc. The Hawks finished with a field-goal percentage of 23.4% on the night to go with 11.1% shooting from long distance.
