Women’s Basketball’s Mhiah Vickers Selected to All-CCC First Team
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Senior Mhiah Vickers (Westlake Village, Calif.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team has been named to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference first team, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Vickers becomes the first Lion to claim All-CCC first team accolades since Jody Gardner earned the distinction in 2000-01.
She started all 25 contests this season for Eastern Nazarene and played a vital role in leading the team to a 12-13 overall record with a 10-8 mark in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
Vickers led the Lions and ranked fourth in the league in scoring with 14.9 points per game. She also paced the squad and ranked ninth in the conference in rebounding with 7.2 boards per contest.
Vickers ranked fourth in the league with 2.3 steals per game, ninth in assists per game with 2.9 helpers and is tied for eighth in the conference with 1.2 blocks per contest.
She has registered seven double-doubles on the year and strung together four double-double in four consecutive games this season.
Vickers sports a field-goal percentage of 40% while connecting on 31.5% of her attempts from the perimeter. She has also converted 73.6% of her chances from the free throw stripe on the season.
Vickers was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week twice during the regular season.
Vickers and the Lions grabbed the #5 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament and will hit the road to take on fourth-seeded Western New England in the quarterfinal round February 24.
