Mhiah Vickers Named CCC Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- Senior Mhiah Vickers (Westlake Village, Calif.) of the Eastern Nazarene College women's basketball team has been tabbed the Commonwealth Coast Conference Co-Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
Vickers shares her second Player of the Week accolade of the season with Roger Williams' Angelica Ariola.
Vickers helped the Lions post a pair of crucial conference victories on the week as she averaged 15.0 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per contest, 2.5 assists and steals per contest.
The senior registered her second consecutive double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead Eastern Nazarene to its first win over Salve Regina since the 1998-99 season, 56-53. She also added five steals, five assists and one blocked shot against the Seahawks.
Vickers closed out the week with another double-double, her third in three games. She notched 12 points and hauled in 10 boards as the Lions downed Western New England 72-68.
With the victory over the Golden Bears, Eastern Nazarene stretched its winning-streak to four games for the first time since 2009-10 while also keeping pace in the league standings heading into the final week of the regular-season pushing for a home playoff game in the first round of the CCC Tournament.
Vickers connected on 30% of her field-goal attempts on the week and sank 5-of-6 shots from the charity stripe.
Vickers and the Lions seek to extend their winning-streak to five with a pair of weeknight road tilts at Nichols February 17 and at Endicott February 19 before wrapping up the regular-season at home against Gordon February 21.
