Softball Shuts Out Cazenovia 8-0, Dean 6-0

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Eastern Nazarene College softball team notched its first two victories of the season, collecting an 8-0 win over Cazenovia and a 6-0 victory over Dean Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Eastern Nazarene plated one run in the top of the first inning to claim a 1-0 edge. Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) laced a single to right field to knock in Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) from third base.
• The Lions doubled their advantage to 2-0 with a run in the second. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) scorched a base hit to left field to drive in Mackenzie Murray (Lakeville, Mass.).
• Eastern Nazarene tacked on a run in the top of the third to widen the margin to 3-0. Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) drew a bases-loaded walk to score Darcy Castro (Garden Grove, Calif.).
• The Lions produced four runs in the fourth inning to stretch their lead to 7-0. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) raked a double to right field to plate Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.). Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) and Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) both crossed the dish as Jennelle Munoz (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) lifted a sacrifice fly to right field. Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho) smacked a double to left field to drive in Yaya Bowden (Danbury, Conn.).
• Eastern Nazarene added one run in the sixth to grab an 8-0 advantage. Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) rounded third and scampered home as Yaya Bowden (Danbury, Conn.) lasered a base hit to centerfield.

• Eastern Nazarene tallied four runs in the bottom of the second to capture a 4-0 lead. Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) laced a double to right field to drive in Alexys Giddings (Kuna, Idaho). Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) followed with an RBI groundout to plate Danielle Maliszewski (Torrington, Conn.) before Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) raked a base knock to score Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) from third. Mackenzie Murray (Lakeville, Mass.) picked up her first RBI of the season with a single to knock in Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.).
• The Lions added a pair of runs in the sixth to widen the margin to 6-0. Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) roped a single to centerfield to score Taylor Brandt (Napa, Calif.) and Bailey Olaveson (Lakeside, Calif.) followed with a double to centerfield to drive in Alex Schwenger (Danville, Calif.) all the way from first base.
